Woman set to be charged for ‘extorting’ Masondo

A senior National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) official reviewed the evidence in the criminal cases between Deputy Finance Minister David Masondo and the woman who accused him of bullying and abusing state power, Palesa Lebitse, and recommended that she answer to “a common-law offence of extortion”.

The Gauteng branch of the prosecuting authority earlier this year declined to prosecute either Masondo or Lebitse. She subsequently made representations to the NPA’s head office for the decision to be reviewed.
