I am watching: The Boulet Brothers Dragula (2016-now) season 2 (of 3) on Showmax.
My take on this show: Give me drag, give me glamour, give me horror. While this series isn’t as slick as RuPaul’s Drag Race (RPDR, 2009-now), its definition of drag is broader and the looks are more avant garde, with the contestants creating dazzlingly innovative horror effects make-up. The challenges lean in hard to the horror theme, so in episode 1, for example, the queens must blend their drag viewpoint with the concept of the Cenobites from 1987 film Hellraiser (who’re deformed based on the way they lived and died). The penalty for losing is leaving the show in your very own horror movie-inspired slasher sequence. Not child friendly, oh, at all.
