A Late Winter’s Hunt
LATE winter is probably not the best time to hunt rabbits and, with a full moon to boot, it wasn’t looking that good for our trip, but seeing that I had promised the grandson I would take him camping and rabbit hunting I had no choice. School holidays were the only time everything came together, so we just had to put up with the downside and get on with it.

A quick phone call to my property owner mates obtained the necessary permission to hunt, but setting up camp in the house was out, so we decided to take all of our camping gear and set up beside the old abandoned homestead down at the back of the property amongst the pines and rabbit burrows.
When we arrived at the property, we called around to the main house to let them know we had arrived. When I first rang up my mate said it wasn’t necessary as we were welcome anytime, nevertheless I consider it
