Stitch Workshop Metal thread embroidery

Metal thread embroidery is a decorative form of stitching that uses metallic threads, often with other threads, to embellish the surface of a fabric. The trick to this technique is quite simple: place your metal thread where you would like it to sit and then secure it in place with another finer thread – this is called couching, and is at the core of this technique. We recommend practising with your metal thread on spare fabric before starting our mini bird design. But follow our tutorial and you’ll be a master at metal thread embroidery before you know it!
