When a poem appears in public at any level, the poet can be proud of a special achievement. It may start life in electronic media, then there’s the excitement of a printed version in a small press magazine, and possibly the advance to inclusion in an anthology. Creating a collection, for a commercial publisher or self-publication, provides the quantum leap that catapults the poet’s career into a new sphere.
