After this difficult year, it feels more important than ever to support businesses near us, so we’re seeking as many local items for the festive table as possible.
The sprouts we have been growing for Christmas have been pecked to pieces by an escaped cockerel. Months of cultivation destroyed in moments by the feathery, brassica-loving menace. Luckily, we have a backup option. A short distance away along winding country lanes, at the back of an old barn, is the local farm honesty shop. Three days a week, its metal door opens to reveal wooden shelves stacked with fresh, organic produce from the surrounding fields.
