VALERIE KEMP

MRS KEMP, who died on 21 October aged 62 after an illness, showed her renowned refusal to take a negative view until the end, marking dates in her diary well into next year. Formidable, determined, successful, generous, kind, and fiercely loyal are all attributes ascribed to her.

Born in Devon to a non-horsey family, after school she was given a chance to attend the London School of Music, where her love of all things musical and talent as a pianist
