Tibby! I gasped, horrified.

Tiddly after a drinking session at our place, my dad, Trevor, and his mate Bill had got our black and yellow-striped tabby cat all wet as a prank.

I was only eight, but next time I saw Bill, I had a crack at him. According to the former sailor, though, not all felines hated the water.

‘I’ll tell you a story about a cat,’ he grinned.
