New cookbook aims to inspire

LINKING food to memories and culture is what Lobiyna Mitha, an avid chef and author, has aimed for in her cookbook, The Way We Were: Reminiscing the memories and food of the good old days.

She said that as someone who straddled four generations – from her grandparents, her parents, her generation and now to her children’s generation – the landscape of life had changed.

Mitha wanted to capture the changes and memories, through a journey with food.

“As these changes materialise we sometimes cling to particular ways, which are, to our perception, the way things should be. Sometimes these are forcibly left out by the new realities. However, when it comes to food and the union of family and friends, there are standards that never alter.
