THE TIMELESS DAVE MASON

Dave Mason’s music is certainly timeless. When he finally got tired of bickering with his Traffic bandmates and left the band to work on his 1970 Alone Together solo debut, he was in the act of establishing himself as quite the Brit-rock force. The album featured Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, Jim Capaldi, Rita Coolidge, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon. Fifty years later, Mason has rerecorded the album with a new cast and crew, and guess what? It sounds even better. The songs are so strong and so applicable to today, it’s amazing.

Goldmine caught up with Mason from his Hawaii home to discuss the album, the artwork, the new jam on his most famous song, “Feelin’ Alright,” and the potential of a Traffic reunion (don’t hold your breath).

Let me see if I can put something together that would be in a little different of a format.” My intent was to put a smile on people’s faces and make them feel a little happier about being stuck indoors like the rest of us have been for God knows how
