NN Questions Unanswered

You recently requested letter submissions. I thought I’d write and express some thoughts.

In your Nov. 10 issue there were two published letters asking questions. In the first, Bill Zack from Erie, Pa., received a quarter with a “W” mintmark and wanted to know its origin. The second letter asked about the value of a 1943-D “silver” penny. You folks are missing a golden opportunity to educate and enlighten beginning collectors here. The “W” mintmark is of course from West Point Mint. You should have answered the question and explained how the Mint released 2 million of each quarter randomly over the past two years in an effort to get collectors to check their change.
