PLANNING FOR THE PERFECT YEAR

As we close out a crazy 2020, we need to make 2021 a good one, a season where we hit our goal races in top form. I’m sure most people had a race entry deferred to 2021 so you likely know what races you’re doing and when they are. With a vaccine 100% on its way, let’s hope we get a season in.

At the moment, many of us are training indoors and really nailing those Zwift sessions and, in my case, online pilates sessions. I’ve also got in some band and cord work for swimming.

If possible, I’m going to make this winter a swimming winter as that’s the sport that’s suffered the most with pools being shut. Dive into that pool often but only plan for 45mins max, as it looks like that’ll be the new normal, as they say. I’d stream down your warm-up and warm-down; I’m not saying don’t do them but incorporate land-based stuff to maximise time in the water.
