We have spent thousands of hours over more than a decade photographing some of the most remote and spectacular wilderness areas of southern Africa from the air. We have left our hearts in so many places, but one of our most profound experiences has been flying over and photographing the Namib desert.

To us, Namibia is the most beautiful place on Earth; a place of zen lines, shifting sands and endless skies… a vast world that lies at the end of all roads, and an entry point into an immense well of space, infinite richness, beauty and complexity.

Flying over this grand solitude arouses deep emotions, as it is a powerful glimpse into an ancient world. It has given us the opportunity to contemplate realms larger than ourselves, marvel at the genius of nature and ponder
