Losing respect

I extolled the virtues of Pablo Matera after he led the Pumas to their first win over New Zealand and a dogged draw versus Australia. Then he was suspended after some racist tweets surfaced. They were posted when he was a teenager on tour in South Africa. His apology recognised he had done wrong, but it was still worded in a way that almost suggested it wasn’t his fault.
