For only three weeks in the first quarter of this year, the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum in New York showed Countryside, the Future by the Dutch architect and theorist Rem Koolhaas. His thesis, plainly stated in the exhibition title, was met with negative reviews. However, by the last quarter of 2020, after the pandemic has wreaked its havoc on the global community, the value of space skyrocketed with everybody staying indoors. Again, Koolhaas was hailed as prescient and prophetic.
The thesis also finds support from a field outside but related to architecture: the real-estate sector, where the recent global trend points to a growing demand to escape
