In the thick of it

Charlie and I were driving down one of the marsh roads on our way to a driven day during the dimpsy light of the morning flight time. I always keep an eye on the marsh to see the morning route the geese have chosen to fly. I couldn’t believe it when a mass of pinkfeet caught my eye as they poured into one of the fields adjacent to the marsh.

As luck would have it, the club owns the sporting rights in the back fields, so I made a plan for the following day to make the most of this infrequent opportunity. I have intercepted the geese on the flightline in the back fields, but
