What you need to know about Covid-19 vaccines

AS THE world grapples with the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccines are said to be at advanced stages and countries are rushing to procure for their citizens.

Government has outlined a plan to vaccinate around 40 million people by the end of the year, meaning around 67% of the population. Scientists say should the country meet that target, we would have achieved population immunity. However, to achieve that, the country needs to acquire 80 million doses of the vaccine.

Currently, the world is looking at the Oxford–AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioN-Tech and Moderna vaccines which require two doses of at least 21 days apart. Some countries have already begun the roll-out but some have found side effects that have forced them to re-look their choices.
