The courageous spirit of Patrice Lumumba lives on

THIS year marks the 60th anniversary since the brutal murder of Patrice Emery Lumumba.

Born on July 2, 1925, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, into the Batetela peasant family in a small village, he did not dream only of an independent Congo and an independent Africa, but also of a political reality where the Congo, and African states in general, are equal to their counterparts in world affairs and not pawns in a geopolitical chess game between powerful nation-states.
