Time In Timbuktu

THE OLD ENGLISH ADAGE, ‘AS HARD AS REACHING

Timbuktu’ is not uncommon in the Anglophone world. The successes of Victorian English conquests of Africa somehow did not materialize in Mali. Disease, harsh terrain and ruthless chieftains kept them from reaching the fabled city of Timbuktu until late 17th century. Hence this usage in the Anglophone world. My own by Frank T Kryza; an anthology of travails endured by western travelers.
