Like nearly every family, Richie Sambora and his daughter Ava encountered a 2020 that was very different from what they had envisioned. Just months away from her college graduation, Ava – who made the dean’s list all four years while studying psychology at Loyola Marymount University – suddenly found herself facing a final semester of online instruction and a virtual graduation amid the pandemic.
Quarantining at her rockstar dad’s Laguna Beach, California, home earlier in the year, Ava was “bummed” about her unexpectedly quiet last semester, but Sambora says his daughter kept her priorities in check. “Flexibility is very, very important at this time, especially for those of us who are doing well,” says Sambora over Zoom
