SHE dreams of a family holiday where her boys can run carefree on the beach, where they don’t have to think about the next hospital visit or when they need dialysis. A time when they won’t constantly be worrying about whether a suitable kidney donor will be found in time.

The Hoffman family of Bloemfontein are in a unique and unenviable position: two of their sons, Johan (21) and Janco (12), are waiting for kidney transplants. And their 10-year-old brother, Altus, might be in a similar situation soon.
