Position: senior writer, or 16 trash pandas in ill-fitting athleisure gear? Only zoologists can say.
I am watching: eight-episode self-help doccie series Head-space Guide To Meditation, season 1 (2021) on Netflix.
My take on this show: thanks to years of weird portrayals in the media, I’ve been on the fence about meditation and it’s definitely not something I’d be happy going and doing with other people. Plus, my mind doesn’t just wander, it bolts as if a moment of silence is the starting gun for travel reality series The Amazing Race (2001-now). But this series explains meditation in simple, grounded terms and each episode’s narration (delivered in a British rather than American accent) talks about how it works scientifically using a simple voiceover and simple, colourful, visually pleasing but not frantic watercolour-style animation and music, then guides you through a specific type of meditation at the end of each 24-minute episode.
