A PLAN FOR HUNTING
I was heartened to read Rob Williams’ take on replacing the 2004 Hunting Act [Comment, April issue]. There seems to be universal recognition that hunting is facing an increasingly uncertain future. This is articulated on a daily basis by an army of fieldsports keyboard warriors, who are often quick to condemn the organisations devoted to securing a solution. However, these social media posts rarely offer an answer or advocate a credible way forward. The consequence is a downward spiral of discontent and confusion.
Enter Mr Williams; not only does he identify exactly where we have gone wrong in the past, he sets out a clear, intelligent and plausible strategy to secure not just the future of hunting with hounds, but a host of other traditions unique to our rural and cultural heritage.
