“ Thank you for your two-part article on the 1977 Trans Am (HMM #211 and # 212). I own a 1977 Y82 Trans Am that has the W72 400 engine and the four-speed; I bought the car when it was just a year old and have babied it ever since.
Although it was driven through one Michigan winter by the previous owner, it has only seen rain twice (at car shows) in the last 43 years. My girlfriend has a black 1976 T/A that she bought when it was a year old, and it is in the same condition as mine. Although hers was ordered without a hood bird, we installed a blue one to match the factory-installed decals. Oddly, the blue bird was not offered in 1976. It looks awesome on the black car.
By the way, the restorer took the time to stencil the gas tank for build accuracy, but used the wrong color wheel center caps. The 1977 cast-aluminum wheels (otherwise known as “snowflake”)
