Giving birth should be a happy and joyful experience to welcome new life into the world.

But sadly, for some families, it becomes a time of utter despair and darkness.

Just under 1 in 10,000 women suffer maternal death in the UK.

And according to MBRRACE-UK, Black women are four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related or childbirth causes than white women – and Asian women face twice the risk.
