Wild Flavors
Growing up in the southern Adirondacks, my favorite childhood memories were my family’s highly anticipated, week-long camping trips at Paradox Lake and Eagle Point Campground. As I grew older, these trips extended farther off the beaten path—to a favorite lean-to along Pharaoh Lake, a primitive site along the Branch River or a pine-studded point overlooking the wild waters of Lake Lila.
Eating well while camping was high on my family’s priority list, and still is. Just as there are many kinds of camping experiences, from glamping, to tenting at your favorite Department of Environmental Conservation campground, to roughing it in the backcountry, camping fare—I prefer dishes using wild game and fish.
