What was the Tuskegee experiment?
The 1932 Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male was a particularly disturbing case of American medical racism. Set into motion by the venereal disease section of the US Public Health Service, the experiment was hosted in Macon County, Alabama at the historically black Tuskegee Institute (today the Tuskegee University).
