HOW TO WRITE YOUR FAMILY HISTORY
Regular readers of FT magazine may well have come across my writing over the years and be aware of my interest in recording family events in the 20th century in particular. The most recent article in this respect was in November 2020 and covered the records of my mother and father during the Second World War. It was written in the hope that its contents might be of assistance to those who wish to carry out similar research. It even seems to have encouraged our own editor Helen in that direction!
As I finished that November article, a sudden thought crossed my mind. I had spent most of my time since 2014 studying the wartime activities of parents and grandparents – but wasn’t it about time I shared my own story with children and grandchildren? Let’s face it – born during the Berlin Airlift of 1948 I am getting long in the tooth and don’t want to ‘shuffle off my mortal’ without passing on my story. The bottom line here is that you cannot
