The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site that stretches from Exmouth in Devon, 96 miles up the coast to Studland in Dorset.
It’s famous for its fossils – hence the name. Lyme Regis, a town along its coastline, is the place where, in 1801, 12-year-old Mary Anning found the first complete ichthyosaur in England. To this day, the beaches round Lyme Regis are a mecca for fossil hunters.
