Must Love Chilli Con Carne

LIFE must go on. Even now – in these apocalyptic times of a raging pandemic. My boss always says, “As long as the world keeps rotating on its axis, I expect everyone at work!”

No. He is not a soulless slave-driver who puts profit before the welfare of his beast of burden. On the contrary, and to show he cares for both, we now take turns to be at the office.

Instead of the normal 8am to 4pm pre-lockdown office hours, my shift now ends at 12 noon sharp – passing the baton to the next batch who take it to the 4pm finish line.

Regardless of all this, my wife still thinks the worst of my boss.

“Shame on him,” she rants. “Making you work your normal hours in a lockdown!’
