History at Tarawera

Ruth Croft became the first female runner to claim the outright 102k title and in doing so, set a new women’s course record on the trails around Rotorua, New Zealand, in 9:21:03. The 32-year-old took the lead around the halfway mark, finishing 18 minutes ahead of second-place finisher and first male, Rhys Johnston.

Croft adds the Tarawera victory to her impressive resume including winning the last two versions of both the 55k OCC by UTMB and 42k Mont Blanc Marathon. Rotorua runner Rhys Johnston claimed his first 102k men’s title, crossing the line in 9:39:29.
