“Entering Osorno was absolute bedlam. The carriageway went from one lane to three, and cars seemed to come from all directions to fill up the lanes into this bustling city. Driving without due care and attention must be part of the Chilean driving test and it was every man for himself with no shout of women and children first! We fuelled up and decided to head on to Valdivia to avoid being written off by the madness that surrounded us. After a couple of miles the road reverted to single track and the peace and quiet of the beautiful countryside was only broken by the beat of the Nortons’ engines as we continued our journey north.
