BLACKBURN ON THE BRINK OF A HAT-TRICK
Michael Blackburn nearly made it three ST-XR Challenge wins from three at the British Racing and Sports Car Club’s summer festival at Snetterton, just 0.030 seconds denying him the clean sweep.
After a comfy race one, the Ford Fiesta ST driver had been running in second behind the astonishing Simon Robinson, who somehow led most of the race in the slower Ford Fiesta XR2 until a mechanical issue struck.
That put Blackburn in the pound seat, but Chris Grimes stalked him to the end, and a drag to the line ended with a 0.030s victory for Grimes.
Race three, delayed by the heavens opening minutes before the start, tested the leaders’wet-weather prowess, the glory going to Blackburn as Grimes got out of shape at Palmer.
Three wins from four marked a solid weekend for Deagen Fairclough, as he continues to impress in his Fiesta Junior season.
Race two was the only one to go missing for the Cicely Motorsportbacked youngster, due to a gearbox fault that forced him to park up.
