It was a naive way to think, but I never really believed cancer would affect me. It was something I read about in magazines and saw on TV, or heard about from friends of friends, but I always felt a bit invincible. As a mum to six kids, family has always been everything to me, and my focus was always on being the best mum that I could be. But cancer creeps up on you when you least expect it, and I certainly wasn’t ready for it.
