Key of the door

The last weekend in June saw the key turned and the doors opened as the Festival of Power Unlocked hit Santa Pod Raceway. Okay, it wasn’t quite the same event as in previous years, hence the addition of the word Unlocked to the title, but it was a bloody close facsimile.

As in previous years, Thursday was test and tune day, with the elimination rounds starting in earnest on the Friday. At least they did once the concrete had been dried following overnight rain, with the track opening mid-morning.

Saturday saw no such malarkey, and a whole day’s racing, but Sunday’s early morning drizzle delayed proceedings slightly. Overall, it was a great weekend’s racing with some spectacular passes, notably amongst the Pro Modified ranks.

Well done Santa Pod, well done race teams and well done spectators. You all did everyone proud.
