Make a tonal study of the head

trained at Newcastle University and the Slade School of Fine Art. She has taught in Belgium, Germany, Italy and the UK. Adele has been shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the BP Portrait Award, and her work has been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery, ING Discerning Eye, Royal West of England Academy and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. My three-part series on painting still life (April, May and June 2021 issues) focused on the fundamentals of making the transition from drawing into painting, exploring tone and temperature in preparation for making a colour study of a small still life. In this series I continue to consider the relationships of tone, temperature and colour whilst making an oil study of the head.
