PVW: Is writing your full-time job, or just something you do for fun and a bit of extra cash on the side?
Graham Leigh: The latter but I’d love it to grow into a full-time occupation.
PVW: How did you get into writing in the first place? Did you study, or blag it?
GL: I served in the Royal Navy for 23.5 years. I have a degree in Supply Chain Management from when I was in their Logistics Department. The last eight years of my Naval service were spent in their Welfare Branch where I was expected to write reports on casework to a high standard. Subconsciously I guess the academia and vocation related writing helped hone some skills but if I’m honest years of reading car magazines, particularly PVW, meant that I was familiar with the style of journalism and the celebratory nature of reporting on top-flight feature cars.
PVW: What tips or advice would you give to somebody thinking about a similar career path?
I knew Elliott and Greg [Emmerson] of PVW from the early 2000s as I owned Project SixSpax, the Magazine’s former project car and they were good enough to always talk me through elements
