PREVIOUSLY I MAY HAVE ALLUDED TO OR suggested that the bike’s renaissance wouldn’t automatically be totally stock, factory brochure perfect, and that this is the start of what might be entitled a ‘revised resto’. AS1 brakes are nothing to write home about at the best of times; for a machine theoretically capable of breasting the 75mph barrier, they border on the positively suicidal. How do I know this if mine is in a thousand pieces? I own its little sister, the YL1, and at 60 per the 100cc twin’s anchors are, frankly, farcical. Given that the 125’s drums are hardly any bigger, I’m going for a touch of in-house help courtesy of the AS1’s successor.
