Tens of hens
Hen harriers have had a baby boom! This year, the elusive birds of prey had their most successful breeding season in over a decade, as 84 young chicks fledged from nests in areas such as the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire. As skilled hunters, hen harriers search for voles, grouse and fowl, leading to their persecution by farmers. But thanks to conservation efforts and nest protection by the RSPB, the endangered population is recovering. Visit rspb.org.uk
