WHAT’S ANOTHER YEAR FOR A STORY that writer and director Edgar Wright has been working on for over a decade already?
Originally due for release in September 2020, world events meant that production on Last Night In Soho was put on hiatus and it didn’t finish filming until last December.
“I felt bad for films that had trailers out before they got pushed,” Wright says. “That’s kinda tougher, because films like Bond or Wonder Woman had trailers out for, seemingly, an entire year, 18 months before they came out. But we only just released our trailer a couple of months ago. So I don’t think it’s an issue. Do you think it’s an issue?”
The answer is no – there’s a heightened anticipation for cinema, and particularly for cinema that feels fresh and new. And, in the case of Wright himself, not even necessarily new.
