You’ve got to hand it to Ducati. It’s in a bit of a purple patch at the moment with its range of bikes and seemingly can’t do any wrong, but you don’t fluke the sort of form that Ducati is experiencing – it’s clearly got a very clever group of engineers and skilled test riders on the payroll. Even when the Streetfighter V4 finally has to succumb to Euro5 (it must be one of the last bikes currently on sale to do the Euro5 thing), it ends up better that it was before.
The list of things Ducati had to do to save the planet is as a boring as it is long… stuff like a 10mm longer catalyst, a lambda sensor for each cylinder, and different exhaust headers for the rear cylinders are just some of the riveting details between this year’s Streetfighter and last year’s. It is pumping out cleaner air but the really important bit is that peak power is the same
