Lexus returns to winning ways

IT’S official: the company behind the most satisfying used cars is Lexus. The Japanese firm tops our chart with impressive scores across the board.

The victory will be of little surprise to followers of Driver Power, since the brand won the new-car survey four times in a row up to 2020 and those cars have now filtered down into the used market.

Subaru and Porsche take our other podium spots. These brands also have the respect of our survey respondents in almost all areas, but a couple of flies in the ointment around running costs keep them from challenging for the top spot.

The bottom of the chart is somewhat more surprising. Despite the fact that Japanese manufacturers traditionally do well in this survey, owners tell us that Nissan and Suzuki are the least satisfying brands of used car to own.

Although Suzuki does have a few bright spots – such as value for money – in its score, the Nissan result will be disappointing news for the company, with owners not rating the firm’s cars higher than 20th place in any category.
