I’m off to Paint in the Flinders Ranges. I’m by no means a well organized painter, with every thing in its allotted place and ready to go, as so many other artists seem to be. I’m a spur of the moment guy, just a look at my studio pallet below will show you how disorganized I am, it gets washed about once a month if its lucky, so I thought I’d run through my preparations with you first , I do like to have my water colour paper pre stretched and ready to go, as I hate working on paper that twists and buckles after you start painting with water colour , and for a trip like this I’d use 300 gram smooth or medium water colour paper would be my choice, some artists who run these type of art tours may suggest certain other grades or make of paper or canvas to suit their own way of working and the medium to be used on the tour, also many will suggest certain colour to bring, I’d recommend you cover all your bases, by taking a cotman Field Plus, 12 x 1/2 pan and pallet set, or similar, pans or those cubes of powdered water colour paint that have been compressed and dissolve slowly as you mix with water, they are held in a convenient plastic or metal pallet, my cotman traveling pallet
