TOMORROW THE WORLD

by M K Joseph Atuanui Press — $35

Alternative histories of a world. Joseph’s attempt, published nearly 40 years after his death, does not come near that standard. It’s set in the United Kingdom and Europe in 1962, when the world is still cleaning up after the war, and centres around a mission to get an important mystery item to its destination under the eyes of the Nazis. The book has some virtues, but not enough to survive the portrayal of an egregiously stereotypical gay character towards the end. One for the dustbin of history.
