While I don’t know who the author of this quote was, I do know that it rings more true today than ever before. The aim of this series of articles is to measure our own training weapons, systems and skills against the best the 20th century had to offer. While I don’t foresee a return to the medium frame revolver by the majority of the population, I do still view these firearms as viable options for both general use and self defence. Those who disagree may surpass all the skill levels mentioned in this article, then compete against revolver expert Jerry Miculek, who registers regular hits on steel plates at 1000 yards (910 metres) with his revolver, shooting offhand.
