PEGC is a winner: central, safe, simple, well maintained, in a quiet suburb, and mostly singletrack. Originally an MTB trail, the runners didn’t take long to catch on. It’s totally driven by volunteers and funded by donations and sponsorship.
All this in the sleepy city with a hard name to pronounce! The routes are well marked. Some of the MTB routes in the middle of the course get a tad twisty and bike techy; but the main trail which loops around the perimeter is my favourite and recommended for running.
Not quite 5km, and fairly flat, definitely not technical, it’s a great beginners’ trail. But it’s not limited to beginners - the trails host regular evening runs and rides. Every Tuesday, Candy
