PATTERNS FOR THE DOLL

On a photocopier, enlarge the patterns (above) to 135%. Trace the patterns onto tracing paper, placing the head, leg and body on a folded sheet of the paper, matching the broken lines to the fold. Mark the dots, notches, eyes and mouth with a pencil. Cut out the patterns and open out flat.

CUTTING OUT

Ensure that the arrows run in the same direction as the grain of the fabric. Cut one pair of heads, two pairs of arms, one pair of legs, one pair of foot soles and one pair of bodies from skin-colour fabric (see ‘YOU WILL NEED’, overleaf). Lightly draw the darts and dots on the wrong side of the fabric pieces. Snip the notches. Tape the head pattern right
