Joy on wheels

izzie Horne, the owner of the original-specification Mini 850 City in this issue (see pages 68-73) describes Minis as being "joy on wheels." I thought this perfectly summed up the excitement we all feel when driving down a twisty country lane. Now that our project Mini, Sheldon, is back on the, but now I can appreciate a standard Mini simply because it’s so hard now to find examples that haven't been modified. I'm also conscious that some of our younger readers are intrigued by them as an important piece of Mini history so we hope to feature some more examples of standard Minis in the coming year. Those of us who have been into Minis for decades love a bit of nostalgia as it reminds us of our youth. So, just as we did for 850 Mk1s around 12 years ago, we are proud to champion the preservation and restoration of all standard Minis. And yes, I do see the irony that my Mini, Sheldon, (above) is by no means standard.
