When The Queen pulled out of the Remembrance Sunday Cenotaph service last month, a gasp echoed around the world. Of all the engagements the monarch had cancelled in recent weeks, we were told this was one Her Majesty didn’t want to miss. Consequently it was all very last minute, adding to the shock. The reason – a back sprain – was entirely unrelated to The Queen’s doctor’s recent advice to rest. Nobody regrets her absence today more deeply than Her Majesty herself, noted a Buckingham Palace source, saying she was deeply disappointed.
