‘We wanted a sophisticated, complex but natural perfume’
Catrin MacDonnell, 51, and Hemali Modha, 52, are the team behind natural perfume brand, Jones & Modha. Both live in Bristol: Catrin with husband Simon and sons Tomos, 21, and Sam, 18; and Hemali with sons Kiash, 18, and Milan, 15, plus Willow the dog.
THE IDEA
Catrin I knew Hemali through the business community in Bristol. She ran a clothing boutique and I’m a business coach and co-own Papadeli, a deli, caterer and cookery school, with my husband Simon. Our sons also happened to play in the same football team, so we had that in common too.
Hemali We often talked about how we loved organic skincare but couldn’t find a natural perfume that we liked, that was sophisticated and complex. Lots of natural perfumes smell of one main ingredient and little else. That’s when we decided to launch our own!
